Farewell to 2025 as we step into 2026

Farewell, 2025. Hello, 2026. Some of us hope to break new ground, some to progress steadily, and some place small, earnest wishes into the hands of the new year. A brand new year means a fresh start - a time to set intentions and realistic expectations for ourselves, and to work toward them throughout the year. What would you like to achieve? Take a look at the New Year wishes from students at Wang Learning Centre; perhaps you’ll find one that matches your own.

• Farewell to the Old, Welcome the New · Make a New Year Wish •
The New Year is a season for wishes - and for planting seeds. Sunlight slips through the windowpane and scatters across the desk. In this moment between past and future, we look back, we reflect, and we turn our hopes into New Year wishes.

Chen Zihan (Primary 2): “In the new year, I hope to learn how to swim - gliding freely in the water like a happy little fish.”

Zhuo Hongkai (Primary 4): “I hope to go to Japan with my dad, mum, and younger sister - to see snow in winter, play in it, take photos, and make happy memories.”

• Wishes Alongside Growth •
For students at the Centre, New Year wishes hide in open textbooks and echo in laughter between classes.

Perhaps it’s the wish to understand every beautiful passage in Chinese lessons;

Perhaps it’s the hope that one’s own story in composition will move more classmates;

Perhaps it’s the goal of doing even better in the next exam - and entering an ideal secondary school together with good friends.

These small wishes are like plump seeds - filled with curiosity for knowledge, gratitude for friendship, and a quiet resolve to “become better.” That, after all, is one of the most moving faces of growth.

Du Xinling (Primary 2): “I hope to take first place in composition.”

Lin Jiaxuan (Primary 6): “I hope my results improve this year and that I achieve excellent scores in the PSLE.”

• Sailing the Sea of Learning · Harvesting Knowledge •
Students’ New Year wishes are already woven into everyday moments at the Centre:
• the clear voices reciting Chinese in class;
• the textbooks and notebooks spread across desks;
• the encouraging comments teachers write carefully on homework;
• the silhouettes of students studying earnestly under each desk lamp.

These seemingly ordinary scenes quietly knit together the warmth of our learning community - and give each wish a firmer foundation. Here, students explore the beauty of Chinese, draw strength from knowledge, and roam happily through a sea of books - this is a warm haven for learning.

Liu Enyu (Primary 1): “I hope to meet many of my kindergarten friends again in primary school.”

Huang Enrui (Primary 4): “I hope to learn more this year—and have more time to play with my younger brothers.”

Yu Ruisheng (Primary 2): “I hope every day is a holiday so I can play happily every day.”

• A New Year, A New Journey · Everything Is Possible •
In the new year, may every student carry these small wishes forward with courage.

May they grow through exploration, learn resilience through setbacks, and blossom in the fertile soil of Wang Learning Centre - each shining in their own way.

As the year opens, everything is possible.
Let us write our wishes into the wind of the new year, and quietly wait - for flowers to bloom, for growth to arrive.
